Mafterbuner or reprogramed ECU or both?

I have completed the balance of my engine mods that I have money for currently and they include a CAI, exuast, headers (next week) underdrive pulley, now i am looking for something to help my computer compensate for them I dont know much in this area and was looking to you guys for some information and your opinions on things like a mafterburner? and a re-programed ECU according to your mods. Anyway my question is this: I will plan to do one of these mods next to coplement my others but which one is/will
A)more cost effective
B)give me more Pony's
C)be easier to re-program for future mods such as plugs, hotwires, intake manifold, boared out throttal body?

and will a mafterburner require me to dyno my car to set it up correctly?
I guess what I really need is a thourogh explanation of both
Thanks

Re: Mafterbuner or reprogramed ECU or both?

you dont need to reprogram your ecu for any of that. Your Ecu has Low, Mid, High fuel & timing tables that will learn what going on and ajust accordingly.. Just don't disconnect the battery all the time

Re: Mafterbuner or reprogramed ECU or both?

I dono man... I think that my Tib isent reconizing the upgrades or something because i have mild problems sometimes during start up... i think im running too rich/lean. Hey, off hand whats a tibs proper A/F ratio? Im going to get a wideband pretty soon to see if that s the problem... also im pretty confident im going to get Zex a little after that... so its not a complete waste of a guage to have.

I hear alot of people have the Apexi SAFII. What do u guys think bout that? Im currently looking into that also... anyone use that and feel its helpful?

Re: Mafterbuner or reprogramed ECU or both?

Sfac2 is about $219 on ebay. A/F closed loop opperations are the same on every OBDII, they try and osilate around .5v (stoch or 14.7:1) I don't know what the ECU's +/- fuel enrichments are or what high, mid or low timming maps look like, so I really can't anwser that for you. Sorry..

A/F ratio's arn't what you should be tunning for.. It's important not to run open loop WOT pulls over 12.5 just for safety, but 11.5 should be your target AF. 11.1 is the fasted flame speed but 12.0 to 12.5 is typicaly the best power. Most Factory ecu's richen the mixture up for safety when a certan g/rev is reached. I don't know enough about the tibby to really tell you what to shoot for, other then get your fuel trims dialed with your safc2 and logger before you go have to much fun!
