best brand/model performance parts
I am considering putting a new intake manifold and exhaust system (headers, etc.) in my 1991 9c1.
There are so many brands and part numbers I am confused. I need the modifications to be street legal and budget friendly. All suggestions welcome. Thanks. |

Re: best brand/model performance parts
flowmaster dual exhust setups are a nice start
I would also go through the engine/trans to ensure all electronic sensors are in good shape |

Re: best brand/model performance parts
Duals are not emmisions legal since you are adding a catalytic converter, headers need be of the shorty variety. Might not be a true bolton intake option, read about guys needing to have the distributor hole opened up so during installation the distributor can be tipped more to clear the cowl.
I can't help much with PNs, LT1s are more my ting but I pick up a little TBI stuff along the way. |

Re: best brand/model performance parts
I've been looking on a lot of websites (Gibson, Borla, Edelbrock, etc.) but I can't seem to find shorty headers that fit the 1991-92 Caprice. Also, I am having just a hard a time finding an intake manifold that will work. Does anyone with a 91 or 92 9c1 have any suggestions? Thanks for all replies so far.

Re: best brand/model performance parts
91-93 info would be applicable and if you limit yourself to 9C1 answers you are ignoring good info. DO NOT delude yourself into thinking it is much more than grandmas Caprice, it isn't.

Re: best brand/model performance parts
We've had this discussion before. Comparing the 93 and earlier model years to their 9c1 packages is not the same as comparing the 94 and later model years to their 9c1 packages.
For example, the 92-93 9c1 350 featured an enlarged exhaust system that was only available in the 350 (which was only available as a 9c1 except for one model in 1993). A big difference is also engine displacement. Before the LT1s (which you seem to think is the only engine available in the Caprice), it came with the L05 and the L03, and before that LM1. Until the LT1, you could not get a 350-cid in a civilian model (with one exception in 1993). Thus, right there, you could only get the top output engine in those years if you ordered a 9c1. |
