03 GTP still dying in cold weather
Posted a couple months back. Takes several attempts to start on a cold morning (around 30 deg). After taking off, about a mile or two down the road, tach drops to 1000 rpm for a few seconds and then dies. When attempting to restart, you have to pat the gas pedal or it wont start at all.(TPS ?) This condition only exists when it is cold outside. Acts as though it's not getting fuel. Pump is 1 year old from GM. Has good fuel pressure and fire per the local GM shop. PCM, BCM both changed out with new ones to no avail. Installed new CKPS, still same problem. Could the fuel pump resistor cause this problem? Keep in mind that there have never been any codes or SES light on. Local shop has run out of ideas. Sorry again for the long post. Ron

Re: 03 GTP still dying in cold weather
What are your fuel pressure readings. Post if you have it. The fuel pressure regulator comes to mind. It can be tested in conjunction with running a fuel pressure test. The '03 should have a fuel pump resistor but they moved it. It is not in the same location as the older GTPs. There are two relays in the engine compartment fuse box that control fuel supply. The fuel pump and fuel pump speed control. They should be the same part number wise. Swap them out with each other and see what it does. On the TPS it can be checked out with a multimeter. Should read .4 volts at idle and 4.0 volts at WOT. Linear and progressive voltage readings from idle to WOT.
