Arrow another overheating problem

OK, last year, I had the thermstat replaced and intake manifold gasket replaced. the radiator is full of coolant. but sometimes after driving a while, i hear a bubbling noise and lift the hood, and the coolant is boiling up into the reservoir. my gauge says overheating, but there is plenty of coolant. Help?

Re: another overheating problem

If you drive over 30mph and it does not over heat it is not a fan problem.
It is probably a stuck thermostat. Flush the cooling system if replacing
the thermostat. Possible debris in cooling system sticking thermostat.
It may even be the start of a head gasket problem.

Re: another overheating problem

do you have that spoiler under the car that diverts air into the engine compartment when you are in motion?

Re: another overheating problem

He is talking about the black plastic air dam that mounts right under the radiator.
When I first got my camaro, this was missing and the result was overheating... Make shure yours is there

Yes.
There is one here that ends in about 3+1/2 hours

But you could probably get a better deal at a salvage yard.

there should be some mounting holes under there if your unsure of where to put it. yeah and THEN see if it overheats..

Re: another overheating problem

the fact that the water is overheating and boiling up... tells me that you have a pressure leak of some kind in the system, because w/out pressure the water won't stay water, it will start to evaporate... i don't think its an air dam... i mean that might make it run kinda hot, but it couldn't make the water boil, because if the system is kept under pressure, the water can't boil. i think you have a pressure leak somewhere
