installing in-line fuel pump

Anyone have any tips/suggestions on installing an in line fuel pump on an 85 p/u.The mechanical pump works perfectly in hand, not on the v6.Assuming the cam that pushes the rod is no longer oblong.this truck also has dual tanks.Any thoughts?

Re: installing in-line fuel pump

I'm assuming that the rod moves freely in the hole? You have two options with the duel tanks. One is to mount a single pump right after your inline tank switching valve. Second, which I prefer, would be to mount two pumps one right at each tank. Then a three-way switch on your dash to opperate each pump independently. Good luck.
