91 Civ HB DX interior carpet/plastic
Anyone know where I might be able to find black interior trim (complete) and black carpet for my Civ DX HB, or should I just paint the interior trim and use the off black (charcoal) carpet that I have?
I thought about trying to dye the carpet, but realized it is nylon and will not take the dye I don't think.

If'n I am not mistaken, you could just go to a junk yard and search for a wrecked Hatchback similar to yours with the black interior to import into your car, or, as you said, you could just paint it. There is some information on doing so on my site at Question - Painting The Interior, if you decide to go that route. If you have time, gumption, and a little cash, you can do anything you care to.

Painting
Perhaps I will paint the interior, then if I f*ck it up I can always go buy other interior.
What is your thoughts on painting.. If I paint it say... Gloss Black, would I want to put like a Krylon Clear Acrylic or something over it? Do you think this would extend the durability of the paint job? What about the roof panel, anyone have ideas on what to do about the material up there? I think I will try to get black tweed or something and use contact cement to mount it to a hard cardboard cut to fit. Has anyone done something like this, and if so, any suggestions for avoiding pitfalls?

If you're lookin' for carpet, go to www.automotiveinteriors.com They sell molded ACC Mat carpet for hatches (and it's the cheapest place to get it).

if your going to paint it make sure you use a FLAT paint..
like the krylon FLAT BLACK, the paint is thicker and bonds alot better than gloss. Then use 3-4 coats of Krylon clear coat. |
