98 Lost low beam and driving lights

ok.
I have a 98 lumina ls. I had a low bean driving light out and replaced it. Lights came back. That evening as I went to leave I have no low beam?
But hight beam work only. Even if I turn on the light switch i only have high beams. Now the next morning i started the car and my driving light worked great. But when I turned on my light switch to check the high beam I lost all low beam and only had high beam.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 98 Lost low beam and driving lights

your driving lights are actually the high beam bulbs only using lot less current. have you checked your fuses? and also make sure that all the ground wires are in tact. I know there is one for the headlights on the drivers side of the radiator support.

Re: 98 Lost low beam and driving lights

your fog/driving lights turn off when the high beams are turned on. It sounds like your dimmer switch is out of adjustment, and not quite engaging all the way when you try to switch to low beams. Follow the rod down the steering column to the dimmer switch and you'll see it has slotted holes where it mounts to the column. Try loosening the screws and sliding the dimmer switch slightly up the column and see if it fixes your problem.

Does your headlight switch make that satisfying click when you switch between low beam and hight beam?
