New springs or shocks?
My 96 3.8L Camaro has a ton of miles on it, that being said the suspension sucks ass. When I go over a speedbump the car will practically bottom out and it feels bad. When I take a corner my whole car will sway to the opposite side that I'm turning.... Do I need new shocks, springs, or both?

Re: New springs or shocks?
ya i would do that, and take a look at the sway bar, it could be damaged. also take a look at you control arm bushing, and all of your bushings.

Re: New springs or shocks?
might as well do both, either one requires the removal of the other. worn sway bar bushings are prolly the culprit of your other problem.

Re: New springs or shocks?
As for springs if you're not going stock I hear nothing but good about Hotchkis.

Re: New springs or shocks?
Kevin,
Definately do the springs and shocks together. Also, let's not forget that everytime a news station says, there may be snow today, streets and san. dumps 2 inches of salt for every 1/4 inch of snow. Which in turn destroys the bushings in all your suspension pieces, especially the anti roll (sway) bar, very quicly. Last edited by wrightz28; 02-14-2006 at 01:50 PM. |

Re: New springs or shocks?
Like Wrightz28 said, do them both. I had the same problem, every time a hit a big bump by accident or a speed bump, i would bottom out. Come to find out that my shocks were absolutely no good, i mean rust had definitely played it's part. Bushings all went to hell also. Pick up a poly bushing kit from jegs for about a 100 bucks. Can't beat that.
