Next Project? How about this?
This conversion of the MKII is done by a firm in Wolverhampton not 20 miles from here. There's an unbuilt kit hiding under the bed and a nice set of PE E-type wheels in the spares box. I reckon this conversion would nicely do justice to the 'wood' decals in the Tamiya kit and show off the interior to it's best advantage - apart from that it would be something a bit different. Comments ???? Colours??? (would have to be BRG I suppose) |

Re: Next Project? How about this?
Pure white wouldn't be right on the Mk2, how about something like Testor's Wimbledon white of Tamiya's racing white?

Re: Next Project? How about this?
Cool idea.
I'd envision it in black w/red or tan interior, BRG w/tan, solid maroon w/tan, dark solid blue w/tan, ivory (not pure white)/tan...any colors that look good and classy on vintage Jags will work.

black or british racing green for the body, and red or beige leather. Sounds like a cool idea

Re: Next Project? How about this?
Nice to hear from you Guys. Thanks. Testors seems to be a no-no in the UK.
I have a pal who has a really nice MKII in 'Old English White' so I think I know what you mean about that colour. It works well on a 1:1 car but the nicely detailed chrome strips on the Tamiya kit along the bonnet and door tops deserve to be brought out, I think. You may disagree but I think I'm going for BRG/Dark red or BRG/Brooklands Green Upholstery (a bit lighter than BRG) - the coin is in the air. FOR INTEREST SAKE - I phoned the firm and they say I can go anytime and take pictures of whatever I like. I particularly want to see how they have dealt with the back side windows on the 2 door conversion. Here's my old banger to make you smile - a 250 mile trip required a following convoy - 1 Oil Tanker, 1 Petrol Tanker and 1 Water Bowser!!! What the heck - I loved her!! (and better still so did 'er indoors' [That's a Cockney expression for 'My Wife' - after all this time we still have to educate our American Cousins [only joking!]) Enjoy!! and don't get too serious! - otherwise our hobby stops being fun! Cheers |

Re: Next Project? How about this?
As you appear to be from the UK i'm supprised ' Inspector Morse ' maroon hasn't figured in your colour line up, A light tan interior with wood highlights would look great IMO.

Re: Next Project? How about this?
This is an excellent kit, and I'm very tempted to build mine once I can find my bare metal foil...
![]() Great idea about the conversion, however, IMHO those Jag Mk2 convertables don't look right, partly because I think that the bonnet isn't long enough to balance the extra visual length created by removing the roof, but also due to the huge hood piled up on the rear deck. Just a thought.... if your main aim is to showcase the interior, how about removing the door windows & fitting a Webasto sunroof (did they make these for Mk2s?) or perhaps having the doors open?

Re: Next Project? How about this?
I suppose 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' - actually I rather like it as a convertible. The hood does look a bit ugly in the picture of the light blue car but I think that is probably the angle of the picture. It doesn't look as bad on the darker one.
