transverse KA24 into '91 240sx

Okay. My friend has a '91 240SX with a blown KA24. Just to get the car up and running again he wants to put in a new KA24. Someone offered him a KA24 from a '99 Nissan that came transverse mounted. A Nissan of America mechanic told him that the '99 KA24's engine mounts are in the wrong spot for this type of swap. So my question is would custom made motor mounts solve this problem? Or would he be better off buying a KA24 from someone who just dropped in a SR20DET?

Thanks for any and all help.

I believe the problem is that the motor mounts on the engine block itself are in a different location due to the FWD layout.

Just stick with the RWD KA24 to keep things happy... it'll save him money in the long run... to do custom mounts to make that shit work, he could of had a decent setup.

Stick to the regular stuff, and stay away from frass.

I agree, plus there's a whole lot more work to do than just the mounts. For starters the Distributor runs off of the cam!! Plus a bunch of other things I don't even know about.
