Upper ball joint

OK, I should know this but it eludes me...when replacing an upper ball joint (96 blazer) does the ball joint and bolt pattern get placed under the upper control arm or on top and through it...thanks in advance

Re: Upper ball joint

If I remember correctly, the new joint goes down through the control arm from the top, but the bolts come up from the bottom. Mine is a 98 but should be the same.

Re: Upper ball joint

On my 2000 it went through the top, not on the bottom. Hope this helps. Also might want to consider doing the lowers while you're getting dirty and swearing.

Re: Upper ball joint

1st thanks for all the replies guys. the old one I took out was in two pieces it went down and then a flage for lack of a better word went under it and is sandwiched on the control arm.. new one is all one piece...by the looks of the diagram it goes through the top, looks like I be working on the blazer before the game. (did the lower also, thanks)
