not a chance that the R32 (or R36) weighs anywhere close to 1000lbs less then the passat...

the passat 2.0T is ONLY 46lbs heavier then the jetta 2.0T comparing the manual versions of each 3259lbs for the jetta, 3305 for the passat... i know. shocked me too...

the passat 3.6 4motion (because we know the R36 will have the 4motion system, right?) is a heavy 3829lbs... (automatic, no manual version is available). so, adding the 4motion and the 3.6 V6 over the 2.0T adds 485lbs (comparing automatic transmission trims)... but with a shorter wheelbase the R36 should theoretically add less weight... so it of course wont be 3800lbs.

that, and from VW europe (who already have the 2006 R32), i found the "unladen weight" to be 1590kgs... which is 3505lbs. with the bigger 3.6L V6, it'll most likely weight a little more... so at most, the R36 will be 300lbs less than the 3.6L 4motion passat.
