GT4 Drifting

I tried and tried to get my car to drift in GT4 but it just doesn't work. I play with the PS2 controller, and I have tried many different settings I made most of them and I got some from the internet also, but all of them does the same exact thing. I get my car to turn and when I counter steer the car just goes that way and it spins out. I just gave up on it, but after seeing some pictures of other users here drifting in GT4 I wanted to know how they did it and such. If they could share their settings it would be awsome =). Any help would be great thanks guys.

Re: GT4 Drifting

it's partly the settings but really it's the technique. It's also the car. first choose a very balanced car. i like the rx7 infini III. and put comfort tires on it and just work on it that way. If you want make it a little stiffer in the rear(not much if at all) then put your car sideways

Re: GT4 Drifting

yea, make sure you turn the driving aids off too, you can basically drift in anything, easier in a FR format car, but possible in AWD and FF cars too.

drifting with aids (<<<<heheheh) is no fun. It doesn't pose any challange at all. No TCS at all.

Re: GT4 Drifting

Start with no driving aids, get a full customize LSD, and a full customize Transmision.

Go into the corner fast, not to fast though, turn in early, and brake to swing the back-end out then use gas and brake to controll the car. Use the analog stick for gas and brake (more controll). Also I like to use Super Soft Racing tires, or Soft Sport tires.
Other than that you can drift anything, I have even Drifted a FIAT 500. LOL!

Unless you have that occasional 600bhp Supra, then it is just a burnout contest hehe...

Re: GT4 Drifting

my drift-only cars have between 400-600 hp, so soft tires are like driving on Z-rated tires.

Re: GT4 Drifting

I usually use the Hard racing rubber, or the medium. I usually don't have any problems drifting that. The STi drifts better than the EVO does, in my opinion.

Re: GT4 Drifting

my drift cars usually have around 300 so real drifting and not just powerovers are required

Re: GT4 Drifting

The 240SX (S14) drifts really well if you set it up the right way.

Re: GT4 Drifting

bit of an old thread but i'd like to know what you guys mean when yuo say drift.
are you talking about simply oversteering intoa turn then applying opposite lock to correct or are you talking about deliberately throwing your car into a corner and letting it slide and point the direction you want to be in at the exit of the corner?
or are you simple talking about kicking the rear out and balancing the end in a slide?

Re: GT4 Drifting

Well my explanation of drifting is entering a corner with the rear end already loose, keeping it sliding through the whole turn and exiting the corner clean and pointing straight down the track.

Simply oversteering into a turn is nothing but powersliding, technically its different from drifting and in realitively simple terms its easier to do.

I don't know if you're asking what drifting means to us, or you just aren't sure what it is. If so, try searching for it on yahoo and stuff like that, drifting is real big these days.
