Transmitter Distance

I was wondering if anyone might know why I am losing distance on the keyless entry transmitter for my 99 tahoe, it used to work at 30 feet, now I have to be right next to it to make it work.

Did you replace the transmitter battery?

Re: Transmitter Distance

Yea, Sorry, I Should Have Said That, I Replaced The Battery Right When It Started Happening. I Also Re-synched It, Nothing Seems To Be Helping.

OK. Just wanted to be sure. I have taken them apart and cleaned the contacts under the button and that has helped. Do you have 2 transmitters? Are they both doing the same thing?

Re: Transmitter Distance

Yea, I have both of the original transmitters, and that was one of the first thoughts I had, hey I'll just switch it with my girlfriends. But no, that one does the exact same thing.

Re: Transmitter Distance

Run through the whole programming procedure, not just a re-sync. This usually extends the range.

If that doesn't work, place the remote up to your chin and aim it up into your head and press the button. This usually doubles or triples the range because it focuses the signal.

Re: Transmitter Distance

The distance on mine is not all that great either. I bought mine used on ebay and programmed it. Even with a new battery, my range is 5-15 feet away.
