You probably have a gasket from an old oil filter still stuck to the block. You have just seen what happens when you double gasket an oil filter. Either that or the oil filter just isnt tight, although it doesnt have to be stupid tight, just good and snug.

Re: 1996 stang squirting oil

Well this just happened out of the blue i started my car and oil squirted everywhere i mean alot of oil squirting out. I checked to make sure there was no old gaskets and stuff in there and everything was clean. The oil filter i just bought brand new when i thought it was the oil filter that caused this. and it was tight and everything i even tried tightening it more and still the same problem. Some one told me my motor is pretty much done with. Thanks for your reply.

Re: 1996 stang squirting oil

When was your last oil change? Are you sure the oil is coming out from around the filter? Just because you may have a bad oil leak does not mean your motor is shot. Well, unless all the oil leaks out and you keep driving it. If there is no problem with the filter, then the oil is coming from somewhere else.

it sounds like there is a blockage somewhere, and it is building up pressure, and comming out of the oil filter.

Re: 1996 stang squirting oil

hey guys ive been pretty busy so i havnt had time to post but i found out that there is a blockage somewhere and its building up pressure.I had put the oil filter this time with a better gasket and a little tighter and the oil didnt come out for like 8 seconds and all of a sudden it started squirting out again. id ont know what to do what should i look for? Someone told me i should take off the valve covers and see if there is anything in there. Should i do this? and if i take em off do i have to buy new gaskets and stuff but is it okay for me to take them of? Thanks
