service traction system
It started on the way to work. I get " service traction system " on the information display after driving. I heard a chime and the traction control turned off. Even if I turn off traction control , after a few seconds the info panel will say " service traction system " . Is this like the oil life " change oil " or more serious. I unfortunately do not have my owners manual with me so I can not look it up .

But you should be able to scan the eng/transmission for codes and find a code. If any codes post back code no. MT

Re: service traction system
Any brake system component failure relating to the traction control system will cause that light to trip. Most common is the ABS wheel speed sensor(s) contained in the hub bearings (or the wiring to them), but it could also be an ABS module, pump, etc...

You will need to check for ABS codes. But remember codes on ABS system will sometimes clear codes and reset when the key is turned off. Check for the when the light is on. The cel/mil light is for engine codes. MT

Re: service traction system
Thanks for the info. I have a notebook based power tuner. It has the capabilities to reset DTC's . I will have to look tonight to see if it can reset for the trans also. I can change shift points , trans abuse modes, torque, FMC , so i should be able to reset trans DTCs. Well anyway , 2 days and it has not happened again. I can only think that I can trace it back to I shot some engine cleaner on the passenger side of the engine, followed by a high stream of water. Maybe just a damp connector ?
