How to change water pump on 96

1996 2dr Blazer water pump is leaking out the weep hole. I am trying to remove as little as possible truck has 200K on it. I had the upper half of radiator shroud off but could not get clutch fan off. I have the proper wrench but could not hold the fan/pump still to unscrew it. Is it standard threads ? counter clockwise to unscrew ? I do not think I can get the pump out with fan attached without taking the radiator out which I do not want to do. Any tips or suggestions appreciated.
