1993 olds 88

I have a 1993 olds 88 royale ls. sometimes when i start it the information center displays ECM Data Link Problem. If you try to accelerate when this message flashes, the car will pick up speed VERY SLOWLY. any idea what may be causing this?

Have the codes checked on your car and see if there are any stored. http://www.obd1.com/
Go here and this will tell you how to read your codes. You have obd 1 on your car. Look for the paper clip test part of the article.
