How about that Fusion? Rally against Biters!

Of course you've seen the ads about this Ford Fusion. What the hell is so good about it? It looks the same as the Ford 500, except more gay. There better be some pretty impressive stuff about this car, and some original features, otherwise its just another run-of-the-mill peice of plastic garbage copycat.
One car already fits that description. Can anyone guess what it is? It starts with an H and looks like another H (or A). Hmm, something that looks like a certain model by the name of TL? A perfect example of it's "biting" behaviour is in it's commercial. It drives by several cars with their special features captioned above them, and steals them as it drives by. And what I dispise most about it: they claim it's different!
This is not the only car that looks and acts the same as every other car on the market. It goes for, well, every other car on the market. Very sad.

Whats going on with the auto manufactureres today??!!

All oppositions and contributions are welcome; this is a forum, after all.

I actually like it. Looks different than most copy cat Hondas and Toyotas to me. Though it is basically a Mazda.

Yeah, honestly I don't see anything too special about that whole segment.

Re: How about that Fusion? Rally against Biters!

As far as sedans go it is really nice. I have been in it already and I was as impressed as I could be with a sedan I would say. It was nothing like the 500, it was really more akin to an accord to me honestly. As for the TL, that is a very nice car. I have driven it and I had no complaints what so ever.

Re: How about that Fusion? Rally against Biters!

the fusion is, in fact, on the same platform as the mazda 6, and i like it too.
i don't know why you're making a big deal about the commercials. of course they're going to try to talk up their car as much as possible, whether it's a good car or not, that's what commercials are for!
having said that, there really isn't anything too special about it. my brother and i test drove one just because we were bored one day. it's a fresh design, okay performance, responsive handling. it's a good car. i like it, but there really isn't anything all the great about it...except for maybe the back seats. they were really comfortable and had plenty of space. that's something i don't think you see a lot in this car segment

Ok, so i have since changed my view on the Fusion from the first post. It's actually a different car, I'll give them that. I would drive one.

Be fuckin glad that your Ford Fusion doesn't look like this:

Because that's how our one looks.

What on earth did you expect Ford to do, make a pointless gas-guzzling V8 tank instead of a volume selling midsize in the middle of a fuel shortage and send themselves under?

Re: How about that Fusion? Rally against Biters!

Supposedly it really isn't that bad. C&D ranked it the #2 V6 family sedan behind the Accord EX V6 and in front of the Sonata V6 and Camry V6.

Re: How about that Fusion? Rally against Biters!

Wow, I feel sorry for you guys. It looks like a focus wagon maybe mixed with an escape and a bit of the 500 thrown in for kicks. What I was saying about the TL is that the new Hyundai looks so close to the TL that it's stupid. We already have that car, now come up with something different...

Re: How about that Fusion? Rally against Biters!

It's basically a jacked up Ford Fiesta, because everyone was just crying out for a car that sits between the Fiesta and the Focus. Bloody Ford...

Re: How about that Fusion? Rally against Biters!

The American Fusion is adecent mid size sedan, in a category that most families can use. it's an alternative to Hondas and Toyotas, and as such doesn't have to be better, merely different than them. It's also different than the Mazda 6 it's based on (which is originally a Ford US design including the Duratech V6), but the Fusion has more interior room by virtue of a stretched wheelbase and widened shoulder room. The Milan is the same car with a few more features and slightly different styling for people who don't like the wide three bar grille of the Fusion.

As toyota showed, you can sell slightly differnt versions of the same chasssis in differnt segments with only minor changes, as styling is so subjective that it's the deciding factor when all else is close enough to being equal.

No, it's nothing "special." but in this segment, it doesn't have to be, any more than any other appliance. Special is for cars like the GT and the like.

How "special" is your refrigerator?

I don't see anything wrong with the looks at all. I'd drive one and the price isn't that bad.

The inside isn't half bad I think. In fact I guess you could say it's nice for under $20,000 I think.

Car and Driver gave it a nice little review http://www.caranddriver.com/article....&page_number=1
