will a grand am gt beat an eclipse gsx?

hey my friend has a 2003 eclipse gts and she thinks it will beat my 2004 grand am gt. Do you think she will beat me?

Yeh sorry to tell ya but she'll deffinately win. She has 210 horsepower, which is a lot more than you, has almost the same torque, and has a significantly higher gear ratio. I think she'd deffinately win, and I wouldn't try to race her, because I can guarantee you that if you're both stock, she'll win. Unless, of course, she has the 5-speed, and really sucks at shifting, then you might have a chance.

ya hers is stock and its automatic w/ tiptronic but i have a drop in kn%n filter and an slp exhaust and im getting new pulleys farly soon

isnt the top speed of the eclipse only 108-110mph? Your GT would hav a top end faster, but those little eclipse's are pretty damn quick!
If you dont hav a full gas tank, I think you might be able to take'r Go for it, just dont race "pinks"

huh, on most automotive forums racing topics are banned. LIke I go to grandamgt.com alot (by far the best new model gagt website by the way!!) and they aren't allowed. But I do like this place also, just a good forum all around for all cars.

you're going to need more than just that,

But depending on whos the better driver and if she uses the tiptronic w/e crap ... its a fact she'd win something like 2 out of 3 or some bs with stock... I too have the drop in K&N filter, its 'ok' but you would of been better off with just fitting a cone to the stock hoses for the intake .. get maybe 2-4HP .. if that, Just guessing.

SLP exhaust? Hrmm... Sound nice? I've been looking at getting a new exhaust in the future sometime this summer for my SE

Good luck, guess it just boils down to who can drive the automatic better lol... Ive found that when I hit the gas and its not shifting and im about to redline lol, just let off for a sec and it'll switch .. and then WOT again.. seems best.

It is nice. A little loud for some people but you get use to the drone at highway speed in no time!

The sound is great and I get compliments on it all the time! Plus anywhere from 8-15hp increase!!

I would race her and see. Most of the over sea's cars show HP rating over 6,000 RPM range. Her car is a lot heavier then in years past too.

SLP Exhaust
I hav custom exhaust, its alot quieter than SLP's, but works just fine

where does the.. SLP exhaust start to connect? at the flange after the cat? or does that get replaced too?

While doing my 'custom' exhaust with a glasspack lol
I notced that the flange after the cat. was basically just rusted shut,... all the bolts expanded and its just a big mess that doesnt look like it'll be coming off easy with just a few turns of a tool

My exhaust is the stock cat. and right after that where the resonator went is the straight pipe red hots muffler.. not bad, but it doesnt give me that V6 sound lol... a really muffled 4 banger but it doesnt sound like a V6 should lol.

ya i heard the slp exhaust is just a little bit louder than stock... i cant get a loud exhaust cuz i have neighbors that complain like 12 year old prepubescent girls but my friend has a 99 grand am gt and he raced a turbo eclipse and he walked on him so i think i mite be able to take out the gts

It's ALOT louder then stock overall. But if you don't step on it by your neighbors' houses you might be okay.
