Possible tranny problem.

last night when i started my car, it stared fine, but then i started hearing this grind / rubbing noise (could be caused from 2 metal pieces rubbing together) well anyway after i started up it was quite frequent but it started becoming less and less frequent then i gave it a lil gas and as the engine rpms went down it made it again.

i dont know if because it was really cold out, maybe that had something to do with it? when i started my car, i had the doors opened, i donno if it had done it any other time it was the first time i started my car with the doors opened, it was night time in a dark quite place when i started it so the sound traveled a lil bit more.

also, might as well tell you this as well may or may not be related, but anyway, every few 1000 rotations on the engine there is a strong vibration that runs along the floor, when i first felt it i passed it off as engine vibration but i donno why it happens every few 1000 rotations.. like every 15 seconds or so while idling.

i only noticed the sound while in park with my door open, when i closed my door it was gone until i opened my window, when i drove away i couldnt hear the sound any more, but the floor vibration was still there, its always there.

please help, i hope my tranny isnt going. oh and when it shifts, it shifts smooth, no grinding of the gears when it shifts, hope i can fix this easily

Re: Possible tranny problem.

Get under your car while its running and poke around. Doesnt sound like anything the trans would do. Sound like if an exhaust pipe is touching the body. Or at least thats a possibility.
