Sick of it all

Ok... im at my wits end and im about to explode. Im not a mod but im a mature adult with great respect for this board but ive got to call some new members out or im going kill some one. Cham2020, GamerXZ, Midnight Wangan, and the rest. THIS IS NOT A FUCKING CHATROOM. Look im sorry but you guys have been members for less then a year and you have more then half the post i have in 3 years. I think its great that your so active on this board but lets face it, your models suck ass and your constant post suck even worse. Your threads offer NOTHING to the modelling community and you cheapen this forum. In fact you guys dont even really build them, you just post countless pictures of unpainted bodies. Or ask stupid questions about "what color should i paint this?" and other stupid shit that just fills this forum with garbage. I have seen post by you guys that have gone on for pages and pages without a single picture of an update. Same old body with same old bad putty job from different angles and your all like " great progress" or what ever. Give it a fucking break and PM each other please. You guys can start your own forum or chatroom on many other free sites on-line so dont do it here. I thought you guys were the usual summer or christmas fare we get here every year but this seems to not be the case. Its imbarressing to us modellers who have a clue about modelling. If i see one more crappy model covered in red putty im going to kill myself. There is such great talent here and im sick of it being underminded by 14 year olds that cant even type a proper sentence in english. I dont mind bad grammar or spelling if you can at least finish a model with decent results but to try and interperate this banter just to see that your modding a friction toy car.... well its just a waste of time and has no place on this forum.

whew....... that felt good.

Thank you,

Chad Repaal

Re: Sick of it all

Hi Chad,

nice to see or hear that other AF members feel the same way like I do.

Every fact in your posting gathered in my mind over the last weeks, too.

There is nothing more to add.

I get what you re saying, there's this new feature of rating threads, or just blocking threads is also easy these days.

But I agree with you and sportracer-san. Af has lost good modelers and talent because of silly behaviour like the aforementioned. Crap writing, making fake progress and just silly threads alike pollute this otherwise great forum.

Don't get me wrong, i don't think it's that bad, but hey, if there is a way to adress this, that's for the better.

Oh, and hey, let's not be blind about it, as time goes by, these kinds of threads also emerge once in a while, ranting on noobs and stuff. But remember, as time goes by there are also a lot of supergreat new modelers coming along for the ride.

Let's just all behave, have some cake and build models and learn to write.

In the wise words of Queen Elisabeth, who once spoke so eloquently to great extent ; " ta-tah, bitches!"

Re: Sick of it all

From my standpoint, i'm not sure if there was something I didn't see, but he last time I checked the community was open to anyone. The community here is very diverse, and most people share quite a passion for modeling, whether it is so called "professional builds" or whatever it might be. If a certain conversation or thread doesn't interest you, or perhaps it may annoy you, you aren't obligated to look at it, is that correct? To say people having a discussion in one of their own threads is 'undermining' the forums, than coming on to complain about how their work is, typing a nice rant that doesn't seem one hundred percent mature is a nice taste of irony, wouldn't you say?

Now I have respect for most people here, and I know as well as the next guy that this forum is for those who share a common interest, and that's modeling, and getting to know people who love modeling as well. If we left all the work to the so-called 'professionals,' sure, it would be fun to look at, but than again it would make the community a lot less diverse.

Have a nice day.

Re: Sick of it all

I have read a lot of posts here. I myself have yet to post any of my work here as i don't have a digi cam yet. Seeking advise from others is a positive thing. If i hadn't asked questions i would still be building LOWER QUALITY models. I don't think saying some ones work is shit is positive. We ALL started off making LOWER QUALITY models. What needs to happen is people need more ''well have you tried doing.......it would improve your results.'' It would meen less posts in the long run. When I was 13-14 I was making models which look rubish now. But back then they were masterpieces of building. 10 years later I'm not bad. My work to me is brilliant. But right now I don't have anywhere near the talent of some people here. The Ligier Aress is building for example. The engine is AWSOME compared to the one i've just built for my Jordan 191. It is just experiance. And it takes guts to post your work alongside the works of people like Hiroboy and Primera man to name but 2.
If I've pissed anyone off with this reply all I say is this is this: It is an opinion, my opinion.
Peace out! Make love not war!

Re: Sick of it all

I am with you Chad but it is free world and I just skip those kind of threads, only thing that is wrong with that is that sometimes you can ignore true talent that could be born, but you ignored it when it needed you the most.

Re: Sick of it all

I officially apologize to those who i named but i still think this needs to be debated. I claimed i was a mature adult yet i told them there models sucked. this attitude would not have encouraged me to be a prt of this forum if i was new to it. I was trying to teach them some etiquette. my condollences. But it does suck when i meet a good modeller and mention this site and they roll there eyes. it makes me feel like a chump.

Re: Sick of it all

This is one of those times where I dont know whether to lock this, or leave it open because it does clearly state the point that I know many people have. It is one of many reasons why some of my close friends have left AF, or do not participate.

Where as a moderator I'd be obliged to lock this kind of thread. So lets keep it a civil debate and not pick apart other members, but just figure out what we can do to make this a better place in general. If the other moderators feel this subject needs to be locked, then so beit. I'll support them with their actions.

Re: Sick of it all

I see your point and agree. Personally, i´m not able to judge on certain users but nevertheless, I agree that not every thought that comes to the users heads are worthy to be posted in threads.

Everybody should go and check, whether the comments he makes towards a project or question are valuable enoguh to enhance the thread he posts his comment in.

I also recognize that sometimes it is hard to say more than f.ex. "awesome work", when we see very good modeling on the board. But I was wondering myself in the last couple of weeks, whether all those comments saying f.ex. "awesome work" are really up to what they mean wordwise when you compare the projects they´re regarding to truely great modeling.

Anyways, thanks for bringing this subject up, it might help the forum to get better handling this issue.

Re: Sick of it all

Well if THAT'S how you feel, I WON'T be posting my latest project which is converting a 1994 Mustang into a 1995 Mustang. I have several pictures (all sized at 8 mps) of the body (it's a metal diecast) and a few with the mods (using red body putty that are also 8 mps). I WAS going to post them along with a poll regarding color ( I have several LARGE PS images to show the different color possibilities) and post another poll regarding which wheels I should use (I'm thinking of going with some 1:18th scale Jada rims or maybe some RC 1:10th...I have some pencil sketches I scanned at 4 mps resolution), but now I am SERIUOSLY rethinking about posting any of those images here.

Priceless. Make sure those pics you don't post on the thread you won't start are made w/o the use of macro; a camera phone or webcam is even better. People really don't want to see the model in focus, they want to see the stove eyes or computer monitor and beverage cans behind the model in perfect focus while keeping the model subject fuzzy
