I bought a used 1988 Accord about 3 days agos. Probably didn't check it out as well as I should have (serves me right), but I noticed after a day or two that it seemed to have problems going from 1st gear to 2nd (I thought is was just no power). After some troubleshooting, I realized that when it is shifting up, it goes from 1st straight to 3rd gear. I tried shifting it into the the manual 2nd gear, but when I do, it is like it is in neutral, i.e. step on the gas and it doesn't even move. Both the D3 and the D4 do it. Could it be something simple like a stuck valve or electrical? Please tell me it is something simple, pretty please?!

Re: No Second Gear (Automatic)
90% sure its internal..
get it serviced or check around for a free diagnostics check (be-ware some people will diagnose it but they will charge for results) |

Re: No Second Gear (Automatic)
I was hoping that would not be the case. If it is internal, and you had to gues, what could it be?
