Front End

I'm going to rebuild the front end suspension on my 71 nova. The thing only came with 6 control arm bushings, aren't they're suppose to be 8? I wasn't able to check all the components of the kit before I left the place after picking it up but I think I may have gotten shorted. Also what do strut rod bushings look like?

Re: Front End

Yes there should be 8 control arm bushings. Two upper and two lower for each side. The uppers are smaller than the lowers. Nova's do not have strut rods.

Since most (or all) of the front end parts are probably 35 years old, and you'll have it all apart anyway, you may want to consider changing all of the front end parts that can wear out. All 4 tie rod ends, 4 ball joints and the idler arm. I also like to get new springs at the same time, but be careful to get springs that will give you the final ride height that you want.

If you want the car to handle even better, get polygraphite control arm and stabilizer bar (sway bar to some) bushings from PST instead of the stock rubber type. It will feel the same as stock when going straight, but will not sway as much on turns.

BTW-What ever happened to "Battling rust"?

Re: Front End

They did short me 2 bushings I got that taken care of. I got everything in the kit you mentioned plus sway bar bushings and end links. I considered full poly and I know they handle better but they squeal from what I've heard from talking to people. I did get the say bar bushings and endlinks though in poly cause thats the only thing they offered them in, everything else is rubber.

The rust is still there havn't had time to fix it w/ school and my dad and I always seem to having something going on around the house.

Thanks much for your time in replying to both threads, I appreciate it immensely.
