timing belt
ok so i was flipping through my owners manual yesterday, and i read that the timing belt on my 95 lumina 3.4 should be replaced every 60k miles, well im closing in on 130k and im rollin with the original timing belt...my question is, is there any warning before it gives way, is it true that to get to the timing belt would take an entire weekend atleast, and is it worth doing when i plan to sell the car in less than a year?

Re: timing belt
You are WAY overdue, and letting it go could result in bent valves and a toated motor if it slips. Technically, the 3.4 DOHC isn't and interference engine (where timing belt failure causes the piston to strike the valves) but it is. The pistons have a bad tendency to rock in the bore which tightens the clearance and they more likely than not WILL strike the valves if the belt goes.

Re: timing belt
And when you put the belt on, get the kit that includes the pulleys with the belt. Available at NAPA and other "real" parts stores.

Re: timing belt
I used to be on www.60degreev6.com alot, there is a walkthrough on the site for the timing belt, and quite a bit of other maint. Also the guys there found that www.rockauto.com is a really good place to get timing components. It used to be www.gmpartsdirect.com but they got greedy and jacked up their shipping through the roof.
Links too 2 things you will need on 60degree: Cam hold down tool: http://60degreev6.com/discussion/kb....e=article&k=16 Timing belt walkthrough w/ pics: http://60degreev6.com/discussion/kb....e=article&k=17 Timing belt walkthrough w/out pics: http://60degreev6.com/discussion/kb....e=article&k=18
