71 350 Rocket Performance
I Owned a 71 Cutlass Holiday coupe, which i was going to toss the 350 and put in a 455 that i purchased seperately, unfortunately, the car was too rusted to save, so i had to scrap it. However......2 months later, i come across a man selling a 71 cutlass 350 rocket. This car is far better in condition, being from arizona, blue on blue, and runs WITH working A/C.
My questions are these... How many of these cars came with the 350 rocket? What makes the rocket exactly different from the standard 350 released in 1971? Also, I am having extreme difficulty finding a roots-type supercharger for oldsmobile. I was thinking of keeping the rocket motor in for sake of #'s, but supercharge it, and work it over from top to bottom. However, i have scowered the internet for weeks and still have yet to find a 471/671/871 blower for the oldsmobile 350 motors. I would prefer it stay under the hood with the 471 or 671, but if it doesn't, and all i can go with is the 871, i wouldn't have a problem with that either Also, What exact modifications did hurst do to the transmission in 71 as far as performance goes? I have an 80 cutlass t-top that has a hurst setup in it (clone) that i purchased for the 455 and the 12 bolt posi. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
