93 cavalier chugs and sputters

i just replaced the spark plugs, plug wires, heat sensor, crank shaft sensor, o2 sesor, ignition control modual. before i replaced all these parts it whould chug and stall and not start backup for hours. now it chuggs when i get on the gas, it dont stall no more and it runs and drive fine when i drive like a granny, but everytime i get on it a bit it start chugging like it wants to die, my friend told me it was the fule pump but i dont wanna go spend $120 for a fule pump if thats not the problem. if i have modified the car by havibng a free flowing cat and stright pipes and a cold air intake but did not upgrade the fule injectors or pump could that be my problem? and one more question, my motor (2.2) will not run on regular spark plugs (like the ones you get at the auto parts sotr for $2.00 each) the only way it will run is with platinum no gap spark plugs witch run $8.99 each, kinda expensive for a poor dude like me.

check engine light on?? how old is the fuel filter? do you hear a hissing noise in the engine compartment (vacuum leak)?? how is the compression?? are spark plugs gapped properly??

the plugs i use dont have to be gaped they have no gap. theres a his when i shut it off. fuel filter is brand new but pump is way old. check engine is not on. i dont know about the compression. its basicly between 1000rpm and 2500rpm that it chugs then it picks up and dont do it. someone told me it was the fuel pump so if someone could maybe back that up then i will go get a new fuel pump. ohh and i got a new problem, i cant get one of the plugs out, the socket i usualy use wont fit over the plug so i bought a whole set of plug sockets and none fit but they fit over the other plugs, is this bad???

don't have any gap? could you please elaborate on that? spark plugs have to have two electrodes for a spark to jump across...do you mean they are PREgapped?? also, if you hear a hiss when engine is shut off, you should check all of your vacuum hoses. check for splits or worn ends. this could cause a chug and sputter.

I don't know where you are located but here in Oregon AutoZone will do diagnostics for codes for free, you could check into that to get an idea of what it might be, all problems don't show codes but it could work.

You might want to take a pressure reading on your fuel pump before replacing it.
