just got a 1990 300z nonturbo.

got it right before a junk yard was gonna crush it. beautifully running... believe it or not, the engine is fine, everything running... except.... 1st gear doesnt work... at all. which is okey, i have been starting in second gear all this time, not a problem. Does anyone know where i can find a cheap, used, worn, whatever, 5-speed transmition? thank you so much. i live in Fremont, CA... very close to San Jose.

other then that, the rest of the damage is cosmetic... such as paneling falling off... but yet functioning... all it needs is time, love, and an autobody shop... which is good, because i have a class that i go to thats one. haha.

well fill me in guys!
Thanks!
Sin

Try:

http://twinturbo.net/net/viewforum.a...rum=classified

Or craigslist.org usually has something if your local wrecking yards don't.

Re: just got a 1990 300z nonturbo.

I would love to see pics..... As for transmissions. Yea ask around on TT.net and call Z1 they might have a used NA Manual sitting around they would be willing to part with for pretty cheap.

Re: just got a 1990 300z nonturbo.

tt.net is slang for www.twinturbo.net - by far the greatest web resource for the Z32, possibly one of the greatest websites ever. The classified section that I linked to has a fresh inventory every day.

twinturbo.com is nothing, it's been "under construction" for years.

Z1 is www.z1motorsports.com probably the biggest 300ZX specialty shop in America. They usually have a dozen wrecked cars they're parting out plus a huge stock pile of parts from previous wrecks on hand.

Naturally aspirated. Non-turbo.

Re: just got a 1990 300z nonturbo.

Ok tranny, you can get used for about 800. The clutch another 300. And you can do it yourself. Its REALLY easy to swap out the tranny and clutch on a Z32. I have done it in 2hours at work. And I know a guy who can do it in 45minutes. But he has been working on Zs since 1979.

And the car looks good considering. Its a definate keeper project.

Re: just got a 1990 300z nonturbo.

I got a deal for the tranny for 600 bucks. you guys are seriously AMAZING! dang... i wouldnt be able to do anything without you guys hahah. but ya, so im getting the tranny and im gonna look for a clutch once it starts getting worse... im not gonna try and drive the 300 without first until i get the trans.

after that, im going to fix up the interior extensively, putting in a new stereo and put a body kit on it (probably Demon II.). Finally im going to paint it in the autopaint show i work at. let me ask your guys, Midnight Black Metallic or Bright Metallic Yellow?

Good, good.

Whoops, wrong turn.

Seriously, body kits looks like crap on the sleek factory lines of the Z. At most I would look into a Stillen Type III lip for the factory front bumper or a 99 model JDM front bumper.

Of those two? Black. Would I choose something else? Yes.

Umm yea..."whoops" sums it up well. We'll just give you a mulligan on that one..

The SMZ (that stillen piece is very similar) "kit" (especially the front lip and wing...it's the ONLY wing that's not factory that I like on the Z32...) is really all that won't make you look gay. The Z32 is a thing of beauty...you don't fuck with beauty...

Re: just got a 1990 300z nonturbo.

I am with the others. Only one truely good looking thing on a Z32, and thats stock body lines. No "catfish" front lips or ricer body kits and a "gofast" shopping cart wing.
