Just wondering. A quick question.
-This applies to spraycan users only. (preferably Tamiya Spraycans cos paint characteristics and stuff being different resulting in different spray amounts) -
want to see if it's possible to further cut down on spray paint quantities. also part of improving i guess (using less to achieve the same results). so the question i would want to ask you guys is "what's your amount of spray can used per car IF you were to spray the side mirrors, rear wing and body SEPERATELY". which means in short, 3 times of spraying. for me, after i use one on a car, i have only enough paint left in the spraycan to mist a few times on another car body, +/-. Thanks in advance for your help. ![]() P.S. this might be asked by others before etc but i am asking on a different scenario where the side mirrors, rear wing and body are sprayed seperately. searched past threads but did not find the answer i was looking for.

Re: Just wondering. A quick question.
I used two cans on my subaru, but it was my first proper model and I needed to remove all paint form it twice, so it would probably have been 1 and a half cans, plus about half a can of undercoat.

Re: Just wondering. A quick question.
One can is usually good enough for me. I spray them all seperately.

Re: Just wondering. A quick question.
Using Tamiya TS paints I allow one can per car body when sprayed from the can. With airbrushing it you can get about 2 done. It does depend on the colour of course and how many coats you need to get the correct depth of colour.

Re: Just wondering. A quick question.
If I'm using normal colours,White,Red etc I'll usually get by with one full can. When using the Metallics I usually just put enough paint on to get the colour, then clearcoat over the colour with TS 13 to get the shine. So I probably only use about half a can of the metallic.

1 can is good for 2 kit.

Re: Just wondering. A quick question.
Thanx for the feedback guys. since it's still possible to cut down on paint, i will try to work on it for the next few builds. LOL

I'm lucky if I can get two cans to a model!

Re: Just wondering. A quick question.
How you use 2 can on a 1/24 kit is beyond me. This is a lot of paint !

They only last 5 miuntes. I could never paint a whole car with one can - coverage is poor. Once you include skirts and mirrors and enough thickness for wet sanding and polishing (If I tried to wet sand a car with just one can of paint I would go staright through!) And as for stripper Klutz I have no idea what you are on about - never stripped a car yet! I guess you guys have a better technique (I'm envious coz the stuff is bloody expensive) but I'll stick to what I'm happy with, I don't stop laying on paint until I'm pleased with the coverage! |

Re: Just wondering. A quick question.
I just learned the "Pman way" when I first joined this forum.
If you use good white primer, even the worst Yellow paint will cover correctly. A Tamiya spray give me 6 to 7 coat of paint, and usually 3 is enough for most kits.
