Hoses

I have a 95 Chevy 1500(2WD). Can someone tell me a easy way to flush the hose that runs from the heater core to the water pump. The problem that I'm experiencing is that I have to let my truck warm-up for quite some time for it to get hot because if I don't, it will be cold. The waterp pump is new which leads me to believe the hose is clogged up.

sound more like you have a thermostat that opens to soon. maybe a weak spring or the wrong temp.
however I have put the input hose to the heater core and put it on the output side of the heater core (left the other side off. fired it up, reved the piss out of it to back flush the core. its doubtful that the hose is clogged. an new hose wont cost but $10. some nipples (water pump/intake) are restricted slowing the coolant through the core. flow to fast wont allow good heat transfer.

Is the engine warming up to 195 degrees good and fast?
If so it would be more the heater core than the hose.
Does both heater hoses get hot to the feel?

The heater core was replaced about a month ago. Today for some reason, the hose running from the water pump became real hot like the other one. The only thing is if I let it sit overnight, It may take a long time before it gets real hot again. The thermostat was replaced and the coolant system was flushed as well.

Okay I've noticed that when the weather is warm, the hose running from the core to water pump gets hot to the point where u can't grab it. When the weather is cold overnight, it take forever to get slightly warm. Why is this? Has anyone had this problem? Could the hose be bad?

Check the engine running tempt/thermostst.
Even a new thermostat can be bad.
Get the engine tempt up there to where it should be and go from there..

I have a lil seapage from the thermostat housing. Would this have any effect on it? It's a pain trying to get that thing to seal up completely.

The thermostat works or it does not work.
Check THE ENGINE RUNNING TEMPTURE.

i can guarantee u it's not 190/195. Oh, just realized that my thermostat is a 180. I guess this may have something to do with it.

If you want heat when it is 20 below 0 and want your engine to live to a ripe old age.
PUT A 195 THERMOSTAT IN IT.
Let us know how it does.

It's been a while but my hunch was right about the hose that runs from the core to water pump. It was bad and I replaced it. Now you can't even hold it to the touch when engine warms up.

So did the thermistat or the heater hose seem to increase your heater temperature more? Well thanks for letting us know what fixed your trucks heater.
