Losing torque at high RPM in 1st

Well......cars running great, but just one annoying thing. I was driving from a stop today and decided to push pretty hard, 1st gear has hardely any torque at all when it gets to high RPM's.......it hits second and jolts, like the high RPM's in first are holding the motor back. Its done this for a a long time, after I got the muffler.
After that, the torques great 2nd through 4th.
It just seems high RPM in first gear really sucks.....anyone else with this issue in the 305's?

Re: Losing torque in 1st

tranny could be slipping.....either the converter or the bands.....I dont see how the muffler could do anything. If anything it should help at high rpm. Unless your motor just isnt getting enough fuel...or maybe too much.....Maybe timing....
