ford and chevy power train questions

if you have read any of my other threads or replies you know that i have a 73 mercury cougar conv. with a 351 2v cleveland... i was wondering if anyone knew if i could convert it into a cleveland cobra jet(or just 4 v.)... my uncle has a 70 eliminator and that is what he has ( i think). and i want to make mine into that... so i can eventually beat him at the track. also is there a code in the vin that will tell me what type of tranny and differential i have ( like a c4 with a ford 9")
the chevy part of this is my dad is a chevy man i want to find a chevy to restore. Muscle preferably. does anyone know where i could find motors or tranny's or rear dif's for chevy muscle. or even suggestions for what motor to use.

Re: ford and chevy power train questions

As far as I know, Eliminator had the Boss 302 engine. There may have been an optional upgrade. I simply don't know.

Upgrading your 2-bbl. engine is easy. refer to the previous thread about cams.

A Chevy "musle car"? 396 or bigger! "Never send a boy to do a MAN'S job..."
