88 skylark ignition module??
background of car:
1988 buick skylark 2.5 liter TBI 65,000 original miles new battery and alternator amoungst other thigns.: Well my skylark stoped running the other day. It started up fine, then just cut right out and stalled, no sputtering or ne thing to forwarn either, just comlpetely stopped. I was still in park in my driveway. I found out it isnt getting any spark. I had it towed to my mechanic who said it wsa the ignition module, but he said it would cost like $325 for him to fix it. I priced the part and its only $81 at Autozone, is this a hard thing to replace? the guy at Autozone said it looked like the module was fairly easy to get to. Anyone have any thoughts, i have changed/fixed things on the car b4, i'm not mechanically retarded but i also couldnt make a living doing it. I think i'm gonna attempt it myself just lookin for input and/or tips about getting it done! thanks in advance Tim |

Re: 88 skylark ignition module??
I replaced the ignition module on my 89 Skylark. I did it in my driveway. It was one of the most difficult things I've ever done. I couldn't get at it from the top or the bottom. I finally did it mostly by feel and looking at the new part so I could tell what I was doing. A shop would have an easier time having the car on a lift. $325 sounds a little high. I would think 2 hours of labor would do it.
