Blown Head gasket, what to do....?
A few days ago I walked out to my car and noticed a puddle of water/anti freeze under my car. I popped the hood, and noticed the head gasket was leaking. Here is the deal, I just changed the timing belt/water pump a few months ago. Are the head gaskets that hard to change. I know I have to pull the intake manifold, exhaust headers, valve cover, timing belt off, then can I just pull the head off, and replace the gasket, put it all back together, or is it not that easy. I have all the tools to do it. Just never done it. Like I said I changed the timing belt, water pump myself, that was not that hard, except for those few stubborn bolts (underdrive pulley). Also I am thinking of just going ahead and swapping motors, maybe now is the time to do it. ZC is what I am looking at. How much longer you all think I have on the current head gasket. Any info is apprececiated. Thanks. Mike
P.S. I havent wrote in a while, because I have been rehabbing my house.

Replacing a head gasket is really easy to do. Alot of people think its brain surgury but it really isn't. Just drain all the coolant out of your motor, take off the intake/exhaust manifolds and valve cover, mark the timing belt and slip the timing belt off, and unscrew all 10 head bolts and the head will pop right off, buy a new headgasket, check head for any warpage, clean off all old gasket material off head/block, torque the head back on to factory specs, slap on the manifolds and properly put back on the timing belt, refill with antifreeze and you are done. :smoker:

naw it's cake, really... everything posted above, that's the exent of it... you should have the head taken to a machine shop and have them pressure check it and mill it a lil..

yeah that is why I was thinking go with the ZC. I dont know. I guess I will price them later on, right now it is just leaking when it sits overnight. When I drive, I lose absolutely NO water what so ever. Weird huh. Thanks for the reply. Good luck getting a deal on it.
