Question Where is the Thermostat located in 97 Grand Am?

Can anyone please tell where to find the location of my thermostat on a 1997 Grand Am 2.4L.

Thanks a lot

Re: Where is the Thermostat located in 97 Grand Am?

Welcome to AF! The thermostat on the 2.4 is located on the back of the engine just below the water pump. It is a real pain to get to and change. You will need to get under the car far enough to access the back of the engine. Drain the coolant completely and remove the Radiator outlet pipe. The thermostat is located in the pipe where it connects to the water pump.

Good Luck!
