No heat to the feet 2001 Blazer
I have the same problem as DaveAA2 but 2001 Blazer. I didn't hear pop, it happened when wife was driving. I did not see any responses to this previous post. I need help just locating vacum hoses to see if that is it. Most post with similar problems have vacum hoses traced to see if they are off.
Help feet are freezing, I have a hour drive to work everyday Joe Problem: all other heat to vents ok except to the floor. |

Fixed the no heat to the feet problem
Well I have heat to the feet!!!!! I decided to try again and figure out what was happening with no heat diverting to the floor. From the first attempt I partially pulled the underlying dash to see the dampers move etc.etc. All performed the way I expected, moving when I change the flow direction: vent defrost, floor etc.... Granted I tinkered around with a white plastic spring device that assisted the inline 2-dampers move Under drivers side dash. Tinkering really was putting different pressure on it when I changed the knob. I had my younger son with me to see if air flowed differently, feeling the dash etc. etc. I trusted him in telling me change or no change. Well after all my knob turning spring poking I decided to call it a day and ponder some more. I soon found out that my defrost- dash driver side was now limited in it's air flow. Great! went from at least good heat on top to partial. By the way still no heat to the feet.
Long...winded story here but anyway I pulled all the underdash panels off again and watch everything do it's thing except give me heat. I grabbed a coatwire hanger and started to move it down the defrost vents on the dash, I felt something soft but it had enough interference to stop the wire from moving further. SO I pulled the wire back up & out and to my suprise attached to the wire was a envelop sized insulation sponge with the sticky glue on one side. As soon as I pulled it out my defrost blasted back out the dash full power on both sides. Well with that revalation I pushed that wirecoat hanger into the floor vents, turned the heater knob to floor and bang hot air blasted out the floor. Amazing heat all because of the stupid insulation pieces falling loose. Now I have always had very hot temp from my heat in the Blazer but never thought that it would affect the glue on the insulation sponges. What a ball buster. Word of advice ------ use a coat hanger and probe the vents if there isn't any indication of vacumm problems. THanks Joe |
