Re: Skyline in europe

Nissan tried selling the R34 new in Europe, so you won't have any trouble finding one or importing one there.
The R33 and R32 are both common imports into the UK, and I beleive once legalised in the UK have no problems in the rest of Europe. (I think, don't quote me).

Re: Skyline in europe

R34 will be way out of your price range, don't even bother. R32s are the best bang for the buck. Get it, go over seas, and pick one up, that simple.

Re: Skyline in europe

I was just wondering if we move overseas to germany were they legal there? And if we got put italy were they available there to? I think i'd rather get a R33 apposed to the R32 even the it is the lightest out of the bunch and would yeild more potential. I love the R33 the best of the bunch the misses like the R34 sooo. Ne way if you could help me figure out bout which countries they are legal in Europe that would great THANKS!! Btw how much is you insurance on your GTRs?

Re: Skyline in europe

If you are military, you can import non-euro spec vehicles to Germany, Italy, UK, etc. and not worry.

However, the Skyline has gone to some countries, but is not "Euro" legal. I can't say for certain which countries allow it in and which don't. But I know many Euro countries won't (ie. france).

The UK is different because it has an SVA option
SVA is: "The Single Vehicle Approval (SVA) scheme is a pre-registration inspection for cars and light goods vehicles that have not been type approved to British or European standards"

What this means to you is: You should be able to import a Skyline if you are based in Europe. However depending on the country, you may not be able to buy (or sell) one on the local economy.

Re: Skyline in europe

Ok so i could import one to the base and drive it but as for buying selling them on the local market i would have to check the country standards first. Thanks alot for that info worse comes to worse i could import one from the UK to germany.

Also where do you get you skyline parts from? Performance wise? I'm thinking of boos controllers, cat back exhaust, bigger injectors, fule pump you know the building blocks.

Re: Skyline in europe

First thing is you have to get a base over seas, then worry about those other issues. Do you have an AFSC? Some AFSCs only have a few bases they can go to, so worry about what job you are going to be doing, before thinking of a skyline. Also, I have bought 6 Skylines since I have been here, so you can just pick them up locally.

Well im going to say this as a person in the military and currently in Japan ... just becuase they say one thing doesn't mean to go head and plan for it. And since your security forces you wont really have time to enjoy your prized car because you deploy so much and you guys work insane hours. As far as parts go do your research your going to get what you pay for so if you go cheap or ebay your going to get a questionable part but if you get it from a legit shop then you got a better chance. I can tell you like this i didn't put any overseas on my dream sheet and i eneded up overseas so anything is possible and dont be fooled because the bases they show you are the bases that are open at that time not the bases that are going to be open by the time you get your orders so you could very well end up in alaska or worse....but thats just my input

Ditto,

What he said.

Did he tell you about convoy duty?

If you have your heart set on joining that is fine, but go into with open eyes. Nothing is a lock.

Yea thats true to some extint but it depends on where you end up also... If you end up in PACAF (Japan all the way to Hawaii etc.) your going to get deployed alot more than likely to korea...as for the states the rules might be a little different...i see people come and go so often its like you see them around every once and a while and they come back and get a new car and they buy tons of shit with money they saved up... Yet if you really have your heart set on buying a skyline and taking it with you i suggest you get one that doesn't need alot of work and that is at a reasonable price. And i know that in Japan we have JCI which is an emissions test done by Japan that is very strict(Harder than california's) and if parts are missing on your car or something as dumb as the rim size is off that car does not pass and it cost roughly about $300 to do it. So you should really save up your money and weigh your options if you plan on shipping to other countries or taking back home...
