Major Alarm Issue
I have been having major issues with my 1997 Jetta GLS. The alarm would go off every so often when I would start the car. Then yesterday the alarm went off again when I was starting the car. I got out and turned it off but when I got back in the car would not start. I kept trying to get it to turn over but it would not and again after a few attempts the alarm would go off. I am guessing alarm going off is an electrical problem but why won't the car start? Is there something I can do to at least get the car started so I can get it to the dealership to have the alarm issue addressed?

Re: Major Alarm Issue
If you have the keyless remote, use that while still inside your car instead of using the key in the lock. When the alarm triggers, use the keyless remote to disarm it (the front button). Then try to start the car. If that doesn't work, take the key out of the ignition, then reinsert it and try again.

Re: Major Alarm Issue
the car won't start when the alarm is off, because even if the alrm isnt sounding, it is still engaged and it won't allow the car to turn on.
