I've a '93 Roadmaster Wagon with 211,000 kilometres (120,000 miles) - very good condition... it's been determined that I need a new head gasket (have been having an overheating problem - mechanic ruled out the usual suspects). I would like to keep the Roadmaster for a number of years yet - what would you folks recommend - new gasket service or is this the time to do an engine rebuild? (no antifreeze in bottom of engine, no oil in antifreeze noted)

Re: Head gasket repair or rebuild?
Hello. If you have no other problems with the engine,I would suggest replace the head gaskets,Also have a machine shop check the heads for warpage and cracks. What size engines are in thoes Roadmasters?? Diesel1962

Re: Head gasket repair or rebuild?
I decided finally to rebuild the engine at a local shop - there was antifreeze in the oil pan and not that big of a difference between head gasket replacement and the rebuild quote. No warpage or cracks in the heads. BTW Diesel1962, it's a 5.7 L engine... will get back to report on how rebuild turns out...
