Re: Holy S***

you suprise me comparing a camaro to a GTI. Funny.
Look for the same free mods that you would do to camaro. Like loose weight, Throtel by-pass, Maybe maf upgrate if it has one, 160 stat, intake, exhaust, plugs, oil, etc.

Also I dont belive the numbers 260 tq -thats a stock v8- i dont belive it. and hp? Those upgrates it has wont give you that much power. And with free mods you look to gain like 20hp+

A GTI would probably beat a Camaro too. Is lighter and hence faster.

I feel like you don't know much about volkswagens. The car he's talking about is prolly a VR6 which will put that numbers, and if he turbo it and build the crap outtava it, he can even get 500 whp out of that beast.

Check www.vwvortex.com and find out what the reality is about VW's.

Free mods... in a VR6??? Nope.

Re: Holy S***

hmm, a gti may be lighter, but not enough so that it'll take out a camaro... it's like 400lbs lighter, and a z28 has over 100hp, and around 150lb-ft torque more.

stock vs. stock... gti has no chance.

unless you're comparing the vr6 to the v6 camaro, which really doesnt make sense... since the v6 camaro is the wussy version, and the vr6 is the "higher" version of the gti, even though i would take a 1.8t over a vr6 any day...

what do you mean higher version? There is no higher version its a gti. The r32, well that you can call a higher version!!! Bring on the camaro!! The vr6 has a different engine and thats it. I actually have a 1.8t, love it to death, but if i had to make the choice again i would've picked the vr6, just because it has soo much more potential horsepower. But comparing a stock vr6 to a stock 1.8t, they're evenly matched. vr6 might have those tenths of second on the 1.8t do to the turbo lag, but chip the 1.8t and seee ya. Comparing a gti to a camaro, hmmm thats just silly.
Thats like comparing a turtle to a rabbit.

Re: Holy S***

well... in all technicallity, the VR6 is more powerful (and more expensive) then the 1.8t, and this it is the "higher" version.

Re: Holy S***

my car is a 1.8t , the chip has been dyno proven to 215 hp and 247 lb ft and then another 10 for the intake and a dyno proven 26/19 for the exhaust ... puts me at 251 hp/273 lb ft. my car weighs 2879lbs. an lt1 cam or ta has 275 hp and 305 lb ft only 24 more hp and 32 lb ft, however it weighs 3457lbs, 600 lbs more. plus it is 29" longer and its wheel base is only 3" longer. on any street course my gti would destroy a stock cam or ta and it would be a close fight on the 1/4.

Re: Holy S***

To your surprise camaros are pretty light cars and different from VWs by 400 lb, no more. And i would be really surprised if i get smoked by a GTI, funny again. If you say that it can put out so much power just as much as a small block which is 3 times as large, we would see some blown trannies, cv joints, head gaskets, cracked blocks, etc. i am not even sure that the rest of the fuel injection can keep up with it. I guess your cars are just rockets? i have never seen a GTI that would be able to smoke tires. Also there is no way you will take that motor to 500 ft lb without a comletely built race motor and certain upgrates to make it stand that much power.

well my GTI 1.8t smokes the tires with the ESP off.
I also have a 69 mach 1 so I am no stranger to V8's.
do I think my GTI could beat my stang in the 1/4 mile, no.
on a road course the GTI would win.
I dont see the problem with a 1.8t putting out 250hp, a wrx puts out 300hp. He hasn't changed the turbo so the injectors should handle that, if he was to do more mods he should go to bigger injectors. I am thinking of going to a garret turbo after the warranty runs out and if I do that I have to change the injectors and change the eprom to handle the hp. so when is the race going to happen?

race should be within next two weeks against mustang was supposed to b tomm i think but my cars in at dealership. my numbers mr supervisor are not exaggerated an lt1 does have 275/305 and it does weigh 3400+ period. secondly i am no idiot when it comes to cars , i am not ur typ 16 yr old with a honda and a 5" muffler., kapiche? good. i hate those kids as much as u do. like i said in my first post i have owned many cams and a form fire so i kno what they can do, i am not doging them by any means. i am just saying having driven nothing but fbodys and a blazer and a ram this gti is the best all around car i have owned. it handles better than a camaro could ever want to and the suspension rides like a luxory car compared to camaros, you feel almost nothing. and fyi the stock clutch and entire tranny setup on a mkIV GTi is built to handle 305lb ft of torque. also fyi my next mods are in this order: fuel pump and injectors and rail, new differential, lt wt flywheel and stg 3 clutch ,stg3+ apr turbo kit and apr ic kit.

o yea and hey there again mr supervisor i think in todays day and age and what have you ... well lets put it this way if u havent seen nopi's show yet its on speed channel and u watch the draggers on their. 2.0L motors with 1200+ hp to the wheels. now i know i know u said we would blow gaskets and whatnot if we dint have a race motor , but displacement isnt everything its the horsepower per liter and the actual integrity of the motor that count. and dont even try to say the vw motors suck or porsche or audi for that matter because when it comes to cars german engineering has by far exeeded american.

Re: Holy S***

Speaking of that wonderful german enginering I have a few examples. How about german oil pumps failing on BMWs at 78000 kms? They are no smarter and their engenering aint the best as well as the quality. I have been to this country and speak german too. I had a few
german cars and some of them are shit. No offence.

About 1200+ ricer blocks I can only say that they rebuild their engines every 2 runs. Theres no replacement for displacement!
