97 Voy ABS & Baterry light & clicking noise when starting

My wifes 97 Voyager Rally SE 3.3L has recently had the ABS and Battery indicator lights remain on after starting and once engine is stopped upon restart a clicking noise eminates from the dash or steering column area when key is turned for starting and the engine fails to start. After a few tries it starts and runs normally. The breaks apprear to be working as expected. I recently changed the front brake pads and one rotor but don't see how this could be related. Any help would be much appreciated!
