hey guys,

been a lurker for a while now.. guess finally wanted to sign on..
anyways.. picked up this hobby about half a year ago.. wanted to do a revell f150 lighting.. and then figured hey... there might be a model car of my old honda accord i can build, looked online. and you guys poped up somehow. anywho now its just full blown crazy! got way too many supplies and
too many models bought.. but just sitting there now.. anyways. picked up a few nice tricks from you guys. thanks

well .. got intrested in casting resin. bought some polyester resin, casted a few rims.. by just pressing the 19in rim form the PIAA accord into some playdough and then pouring resin into it. turned out ok. but dont look like normal rims cause the spokes extend throughout the wheel.

i bought some latex for some molding but havent tried it yet, has anyone been casting resin pieces here. any tips and suggestions?

thanks

The guy to talk to is Chris (aka flyonthewall). He has been extremely helful to me (although I haven't put it all into practice yet). Just wait until he gets online and he'll answer all your questions.
Alex

P.S. welcome

Edit: he IS online at the moment

Search on the net by any of the words, RTV, silicone, rubber, and there are plenty of online stores, dealing with casting materials. (you'll need resin and mold release wax, too)
I have some photos.

I use this stuff. It's easy to find in craft shop around here:
