I had a service engine code come on last night.(P0101) Funny thing is that it seemed to have more power when it happened. reset code and hasn't come back on since. What should I be looking for?

Re: P0101 code
its a code for the MAF. make sure there isnt anything blocking the inlet hose and make sure the sensor wires are fairly clean. you can pull the maf housing apart with an allen head socket or a wrench. get a can of carb cleaner and a paper towel. try to clean off the 3 little wires with the carb cleaner. if that doesnt work use the paper towel. GENTLY wipe off the wires with a folded corner of the paper towel. be very very very gentle here, those things will snap if you look at em wrong. anyway after you get em cleaned off spray em with the carb cleaner again for good measure and put it back together and see if that takes care of it.

Re: P0101 code
I live in Northteast Pennsylvania and it has been very dry and cold. Does atmosphere like that affect these sensors? It came on after the truck was sitting for about an hour and came on five minutes into the drive when I began to climb a hill at about 60 MPH. Like I said before, when I recorded the code I reset it and have been driving for two days without it coming on again. I will try what you said. It makes sense. I had a mouse build a nest in my aircleaner box last year and now I wonder of that is not the problem here.

Re: P0101 code
well the MAF sensors are fairly sensitive to airflow changes. there is a honeycomb screen in front of and behind it and i know if you have a decent size leaf covering some of it the thing will act weird. i also know those things get gunk on them over time anyway. but like i said, give it a good cleaning. its cheap and easy but i have to stress, be very very very very gentle with the wires they are beyond delicate.
