hell with my gas mileage.

Ok now its starts getting annoying. My brother keeps making fun of my car how bad it is on gas because his rsx-s gets better mileage. Hell i dont think im even getting 20mpg. I only have an aftermarket intake and 3" exhaust. I usually shift at 3000rpm. Could it be the o2 sensor? I was thinking i started getting bad mileage after i installed my exhaust but im not sure.

If you are at least getting somewhere near 20mpg then you should be fine. It's probably not the o2 sensor because it would most likely be running like crap(in safe mode) if you needed a new one. My '95 only got 15mpg. Did you notice a decrease in mpg lately? When was the last time you changed your plugs and wires? I would tell your bro to can-it with the mpg crap, his might get more but if say ya'll spent the same amount of money on mods yours would turn out way faster. What's more important power or mpg?

Re: hell with my gas mileage.

Hell ya! POWER baby POWER Show your brother up and start modding the hell out of it. Or your other option is to buy a Toyota Echo, and "brag" about it's MPG

I would assume that would be interstate driving, because around here "highway" is country roads with curves and hills and shit. I get about 35 mpg interstate after I upgraded ignition, about 25-26 avg. But I'm also N/T...

Change out your plugs and wires and see if that dosn't help any, and make sure you gap them right.

Haha my brother is koo, hes not shitting on me or anything It's just that why other dsms get better mileage even if they're turbo :o. Well my first major mod is going to be 6bolt, i hate it when the clutch sticks to the floor when i turn left (not most of the time). You guys kno a great place where i can get a nice 6bolt? haven't changed the plugwire and fuel filter. My intake filter is old. so hmmm

I say give the car a massive tune up and see where that puts you.

Intake and Fuel Filter
Oil Change
Plugs and Wires

Re: hell with my gas mileage.

lately ive been getting about 16-18mpg and thats basically driving 20 miles either way on the highway to get to school and back, I think it might be the fuel filter but im not sure

Re: hell with my gas mileage.

I got like 30 mpg in Mikes 91 AWD when we brought it up from where we bought it (highway the whole way here, doing like 55, no rush to get home). Yeah, do the good tune up and see what happens. I'd do the aforementioned (is that really a word and did I use it right?) list plus the fuel filter, and I'd use some fuel injector cleaner too.

Re: hell with my gas mileage.

Your exhaust would improve gas mileage not make it worse. My talon got really shitty mileage too (probably less than 15mpg) but its also crapomatic and has a lot of mods.

Re: hell with my gas mileage.

my 98 gs is really bad on gas,not sure about the mpg but i know since i got an exhaust and the intake and a few others if i put 10 bucks in it i need more the next day,but for a 4 banger my car eats gas.my brother has a chevy cavi and his gets wayyy better mpg than mine, for a 4 banger it eats way to much
