1.8 liter flooding ????
I have a 90 jetta (1.8L digi) in which I replaced the head gasket, after assembling everything the car turns over but the smell of fuel is evident, it won't start, seems like its flooding itself? Pull the plugs and fuel is definitely there. Timing was'nt touched and the timing belt was replaced in its exact position as the #1 cyl. is at TDC where its supposed to be. I tried starting fluid. Any help??? please.

Re: 1.8 liter flooding ????
i know there is a problem with ecms going bad because the ground on the head (or is it transmission bellhousing to engine bolt ground) isnt installed causing ecm to blow.
sounds like a bad ecm but try replacing your ect first, there a common problem.
