couple of tips..

WOW haven't been here in over one year : I see however that IH8SPM is still as knowledgeable and helpful as ever...well 1st off HAppy New Year to everyone.....Just a couple of tips that I'd like to share in case someone is going to the same trouble :

1) That problem with corrosion on the battery, after tireless cleaning and breakage of the clamps, I decided to take a piece of metal from a hanging file and mold it around the terminals and wrap the overstretched clamps over that....funny thing it cut down on the corrosion (metal from hanging file is NOT CU (copper) so it corrodes at a better rate) and now the clamps are nice and tight

2) I had had a problem with my starter on and off for the last 2-3 months and since I like to save money, i did NOT buy a WHOLE new one......1st thing you should look for is switching the solenoid, very easy fix once you get the right one..didn't have good luck finding any at the autostores.....so after wasting lots of time, I bought a whole starter ( I know, I know) but I bought it on EBAY (BEST place on earth for hard to find parts) anyways, thinking that I'll just replace the starter, I come to find out that when you buy a whole starter replacement for these vehicles (It was a really HARDLY used practically BRAND SpaNking new one ) You have to check and make sure that the starter drive is the SAME or you will get a NASTY grinding noise as or after you strat the car......I first ended up changing out the solenoid to the old starter (with the right drive) and it worked for like 2 months but since my car has 130,000 miles (96 Nautica) the actual starter motor went, so I looked into taking the old one off and after checking mymanuals at the diagrams, I switched the starter drive (gear) from the old one to the "new" one and works like a champ.....THen come to find out that there is someone on EBAY that just sells items like starter solenoids (if you're looking for one the one you need may not be listed under Villager, so ask)...Another thing, the starters for the 92-93 Villager are DIFFERENT with DIFFERENT starters totally (drive and motor),I believe they are Hitachi and the larger ones are Mitsubishi...........
