Problem With Durango Vents
Hello,
My husband owns a 1998 Dodge Durango, which we purchased at the first of this year. The vehicle had been drained of freon (or whatever) during repair, so we returned it to the dealer in March to have some added so that the air conditioning would work. A short time later the air conditioning seems to have become stuck on the defrost/floor setting and will not switch to blow out the dash vents. We can change the high/low setting just fine. We just cannot select where the air should flow. Any ideas? Thanks |

Vent Problems, help
If it is only on the A/C it could be the flap inside the heating/cooling housing behind the dash. The airflow from the cooling evaporator has two doors on one hinge that control where the air goes and might be stuck, or the vacum hoses that operate the vent doors might have come undone. You can refer to a service manual to find out about that. The last thing might be the vent hose that runs from the assembly up to the main dash vents in the center. Hope this helps.
