failed emissions!!!
it almost passed...
and it stalled when it was waiting in the line. i took the egr valve off...and it was stuck... had to hit it with a brass hammer! i'll have to look at the idle air control, also the MAP sensor? (whatever that is) |

also....
because the vehicle has fuel injection....i'll have a look at the inertia switch located on the hinge of the trunk....there's a reset button on it.
in case of an accident the fuel pump shuts off automatically |

Re: 84 crown vic stalls
I had a VERY similar problems over a 2-year period and had all sorts of stuff replaced without correcting the problem.
FINALLY I tracked down a wiring problem that was probably shortcircuiting the ECM. Look at the wiring leading to the series of solenoid switches mounted on top of the driver's side valve cover to see if any one of them is close to the intake arm of the air cleaner housing. In my case the intake arm was "drooping" downward because the rivets fastening it to the main body of the air cleaner housing had loosened because of metal fatigue. This permitted the air clean intake arm to come within a fraction of an inch of the wiring thereby creating a short circuit. There does not need to be much exposed wire to create a problem. In my case the exposed wire was where it bends over the plastic clip securing the wires to the solenoid valve. I repair it using "liquid tape" available at any auto parts store. My CV has never stalled since. Good luck |
