'97 Ranger heat problem
Radiator fine, new thermostat installed, no heat, cold heater hoses.
There is a valve type device connected to both heater hoses midway between the radiator and the firewall. Can anyone tell me what this is, the function, the test? I believe it is preventing coolant flow to the heater core. |

Re: '97 Ranger heat problem
does the rest of the hoses heat up as should ? if so then you probably found out the cause. maube cable on that valve broke that comes from clilmate control. see if you can swing valve open and check for heat. start from there

that happened to a friend of mine.what i did to fix the problem was flush out the heater core.it was clogged with junk.what u need to do is remove the hoses at the firewall where they connect to the heater core and use a garden hose and do a flush at both ends.pay attention to the flow coming out.once u see clear water running thru,u have it cleared out.put hoses back on and give it a try.let me know if that is what the problem was.

I just replaced this valve on my 98 ranger. It routes the heat into the cab or shuts it off for air conditioning. You can see it work when you flip the swittch on the dash from heat positions to a/c. Are all of your hoses cold or just the front and or back? Fortunately it's a cheap part and easy to replace. Unfortunately it didn't fix my problem. All of my hoses are hot, but no heat in the cab. I'm freezing,

Re: '97 Ranger heat problem
I believe you have a problem under the dash, with the door that puts the heated/cooled air where you want it. One of the other forums addressed this, with a remedy.
