Good parts needed at a good price

Hello

Over the weekend I was visiting my family. My brother calls me on my cel and says that he has a flat tire. I get there to help him and when we get the tire off I see the steel belt. These are 4 month old tires warn down to the belt! I told him that I'm taking his car and fixing it. It's a 91 LeSabre in fair conditon, except for the following: I'm looking for the best price I can get on Monroe Sensa-Trac , upper bearings, ball joints, front calipers, rotors, pads, rear cylinders, shoes.

I live in the Minneapolis MN area. Anyone know of a dealer that sells on the web with good prices? I've found one for ford but not for GM yet. After market suggestions are good to.

I'm also looking for a good front end shop that's willing to work with me solving a shimmy I have in my 97 LeSabre in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. What I've done: ballanced the tires, 4 struts, replaced both drive shafts, replaced a wheel bearing, alignment (shop). All of the above and I still have a shimmy/fludder in the front left area. The car has 107,000 miles on it and is in great shape.

As for your brothers car, I would use RockAuto for parts. You can select from most brand name parts.

I got my dirlled & slotted rotors off Ebay & they work great with ceramic pads! One thing about ceramic pads, they have to warm up before they work best.

On your car, I would check the sub frame bushings, upper strut mounts, ball joints and trans & motor mounts. Or, you could just have an out of round tire!
Not too uncommon on some brands! I've "Been there and done that" with tires.

Thanks for the reply! I'll check out the link you posted.

As for the shimmy being the tire I believe I rotated the tires and the shimmy didn't follow the tire. Good suggestion though.

Do you notice a big difference with the drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads?

The drilled & slotted rotors and ceramic pads made a huge difference. That big hog stops like a sports car! I had no idea they would work so well and the best part is there is no brake dust at all! This was one modification that was well worth the investment.

When I order original GM Parts from a Dealer I use http://www.gmotors.com/ They sell GM Parts 20% over cost. You fill out the request form and what parts your looking for and they send an email back with a link to their site with a quote. Check their prices to a local dealership prices and you will be surprised of the savings.
